beyond food noise

More Than Nutrition

Our relationship with food is shaped by much more than what we eat. Our emotions, experiences, beliefs and the messages we've absorbed over time all influence how we approach food.

Understanding Before Change

At Brave Bites®, we explore the thoughts, feelings and patterns that can make eating feel complicated. Rather than introducing another set of food rules, we begin with curiosity, compassion and understanding.

Protect • Process • Practice

Our three interconnected principles bring together clinical nutrition, counselling and lived experience to support greater flexibility, self-trust and confidence around food.

PROTECT

Creating a Foundation of Safety

Before we begin changing our relationship with food, we need to understand what has made it feel difficult.

PROTECT focuses on creating a foundation of emotional safety, adequate nourishment and self-compassion.

Together, we explore food-related fears, restrictive patterns and the beliefs that may be keeping you caught in cycles of guilt, anxiety or control.

There is no judgement, no expectation of perfection and no pressure to change everything at once.

Because feeling safe enough to explore is an important first step towards change.

Understanding What Lies Beneath

Our relationship with food is often influenced by experiences and emotions that extend far beyond hunger and nourishment.

PROCESS provides space to explore the thoughts, feelings and beliefs that may contribute to food anxiety, guilt, shame, restrictive patterns or the need for control.

Together, we begin identifying connections between our experiences, emotional responses and eating behaviours, developing greater awareness without judgement.

Through compassionate reflection and counselling-informed strategies, we work towards understanding old patterns and exploring new ways of responding.

Because understanding the reasons behind our behaviours can open the door to meaningful change.

PRACTICE

Bringing Understanding Into Everyday Life

Understanding our relationship with food is an important beginning. PRACTICE is about gradually applying that understanding to everyday experiences.

Together, we explore practical ways to challenge rigid food rules, respond to hunger and fullness cues, navigate food-related anxiety and develop greater flexibility around eating.

This might involve approaching previously feared foods, feeling more comfortable with shared meals or learning to make food choices without constant guilt or second-guessing.

Progress doesn't have to be perfect or follow a particular timeline. Small, supported steps can help build confidence and self-trust.

Because food freedom isn't about eating perfectly. It's about finding greater freedom in how we live.

Your Journey, Your Pace

A Non-Diet Approach

There is no single pathway to developing a more comfortable relationship with food.

Some people begin with food anxiety or restrictive rules. Others are exhausted by constant food noise, guilt or the pressure to eat perfectly.

Protect • Process • Practice isn't a rigid, step-by-step formula. These principles work together, with support tailored to your experiences, circumstances and needs.

You don't have to have everything figured out before taking the first step.

If you're ready to explore your relationship with food, individual consultations are available with Leone Wilson, both in person and online.

A Non-Diet Approach

At Brave Bites®, we don't prescribe weight-loss diets, restrictive eating plans or rigid food rules. Our approach is grounded in nutritional science, intuitive eating principles and compassionate, individualised support.

Rather than focusing on what you should eliminate or control, we explore how to nourish your body, challenge unhelpful beliefs about food and develop a more flexible, trusting relationship with eating.

Food is not something to fear, earn or punish ourselves for enjoying.
